Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the new school year 2023–2024. This is an exciting time of year for students, staff and parents. Here at JKL, we want you to know we will do our best to help make this a successful year.
I want to introduce myself, as you may be getting other letters from me throughout the year. My name is Jodi Rath, and I am the Attendance and Truancy Officer here at JKL, as well as the Intervention Specialist for the middle school.
Throughout the year we know things are going to come up where your child or children will miss school. The number one piece of advice I can give to you is, if and when that happens, tell your child’s teacher, either through Class Dojo or the main office. Communication is key and we are here to help with any barriers that you may come across.
It’s going to be a great school year! If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to me via email or phone.

We are hiring!
Out of an abundance of caution, JKL has been operating in School-Wide Secure Mode (Internal Lock-Down) all morning and will continue to do so until we receive notification from law enforcement that we are clear to commence normal operations. Again, this is out of an abundance of caution and there is no cause for alarm. Your child is safest at school with school resource officers, a secured building and highly trained staff.
LSSU Family Fun Day! This event is free for children and $5 for adults (with a ticket to win one of the many prizes we have!). This event will have carnival style games, bounce houses, chances to win raffles and gift baskets, cake walks all run by the athletes of LSSU!

Wednesday, August 30, 2023 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Middle School Pick required paperwork & first quarter schedules Meet the Middle School Staff Elementary Pick up required paperwork Meet your child’s teacher/see the classroom There will be a picnic style dinner consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies, and water anytime between 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. families are welcome to head into the building and pick up their paperwork/meet the Middle School or Classroom Staff. We would like as many parents as possible to attend. This will help with the timely completion of required paperwork. If you are unable to attend, your Meet & Greet folder will be sent home with your youngest student on the first day of school.
